The graphics and music are wonders to behold, I am a sucker for synth-wave tunes and it definitely has won me there. They aren't really difficult, but not easy either and overall the game is merciful and not as taxing as other similar games might tend to be, which I find positive since I enjoy games that don't put you into pointless grind. The thing I most like is the combat system, it has a variety of moves to dispatch those Stallions. However, the strongest point of it in my opinion, isn't the story, but the gameplay itself. Rarely a game would make me complete it two times in a row and especially a story driven game. Overall a beautiful pixel art ADVENTURE game, but not Metroidvania as most people would think. The story about a boy exploring the damaged psyche and missing memories of its game creator and how it eventually connects to the end was nice and delivered well enough throughout the game time. The music in these memory sections are tranquil and nice. The music is phenomenal as it pulls from 80s funk and synth, but it isn't all high octane since there are more quiet sections of the game that help slow down the pacing. The most important aspect I mentioned prior was the story and atmosphere. I think the combat has some rough edges since certain power ups and moves are less useful than others, but the game did a good job throwing enemies that required specific moves to remind you those moves exist. While others will dislike this aspect of the game, I didn't mind, and I was more interested on the world, story and atmosphere. It's designed for a very linear experience. You can't return to areas once you've completed them. I recommend this game with a bit of a caveat.
